We are, arguably^•, the first standalone black company in the power electronics industries of South Africa, borne out of a quest for African technical excellence, Highline Power Electronics was established in the year 2001 by two founding members of HDI origins who cut their teeth on this industry from erstwhile Omnitec/UPC and Matla UPS manufacturing entities.

Having acquired the skills and knowledge base set of the industry, the company was focused to serve the market requirements with excellent service offering on power backup Generators and UPS systems.

During the early days of our operations, often our services were sought by our competitors in an effort to fulfil their clientele obligations, such as was done at the SARS, Cashbuild chain stores (countrywide and neighbouring countries), First National Bank (countrywide branches), TFMC etc.

The existence of a proudly independent black company in the industry was initially seen as a threat by several role players and futile efforts were made to destabilise the company’s existence, we bear the scars to this claim.

We concur with the notion that experience is meaningless unless value can be extracted from it. To bolster this notion and with our valuable technical experience garnered over the years of the UPS evolution from the rotary UPS technology, Ferro-resonant technology, analogue SPWM technology, Digitally synthesised PWM, multilevel inverter technology, Highline Power Electronics was spurred on to design and develop our very own range of UPS’s, Inverters and Rectifiers in what is arguably^• the first commercially available power products ever designed entirely by black people, with the exclusion of some outsourced peripheral services.

Whilst we include these products in our product offering, the design intellectual properties and fabrication rights have been sold to our sister company, OPE (an equally BEE establishment, that specialises in industrial designs and manufacturing) so that we maintain our original focus.
